The “Legacy Network” is normally the wifi network that is named after the school site code. Here at UCLA Community School, our legacy network is "7780n", as many of us know. It has been the go-to internet access point that our staff members have fallen back on when busting out the ol’ SSO (Single Sign-On) has been too much a hassle. But after having had time to become accustomed to our LAUSD SSO by using it to gain access to a multitude of online applications, ITD has determined that now is the right time to decommission these legacy networks so network security efforts can be focused on the district-wide “LAUSD” wifi network.
The LAUSD wifi network is designed to only be accessible by district staff members and students who have an SSO. Please get used to connecting your devices to the LAUSD wifi network by using your LAUSD username and password, and encourage your students to do this also by using their own mymail usernames and passwords. This way everyone is prepared for next year when “7780n” and other legacy networks are no longer accessible.
